Soozi Schlanger is defying norms…. She’s far from a novice, though, having put out four albums by Cajun faves Swamperella and one with Betty & The Bobs. She rises to the occasion here, via lyrically smart and melodically varied rootsy tunes delivered with a gritty voice (shades Of Lucinda and Iris Dement) Making potent contributions are local A-listers like Tony Quarrington, Victor Bateman, George Koller, Dave Matheson, and Christine Bougie. The multi-talented Schlanger launched it with a combined performance and art exhibition at Toronto’s Gallery 345 last week. Kerry Doole
soozimusic will be performing original songs Friday January 25 as part of the second Chansongs bilingual songwriters rendezvous, featuring Montreal-based Benoît LeBlanc and Toronto’s own Soozi Schlanger can be best described as a meeting of kindred spirits. These two artists understand what great songwriting is all about, and will share their stories and songs in the intimate setting of the RCM’s Conservatory Theatre.

Two Canadian singer-songwriters – one Francophone and one Anglophone – meet at the crossroads of Canadian music and culture. Curated and hosted by Dominique Denis of Alliance Française de Toronto, these bilingual evenings offer a blend of music, stories, language, and culture, with song craft at the core.
Presented in partnership with Alliance Française de Toronto, and in association with the Songwriters Association of Canada.
On Saturday, April 28th, I have been invited to play a house concert for the Starry Nights Series at the family home of Sarah Hopen ( in the Ronsancevilles area).
The concert runs roughly between 8-10 pm. (that includes welcoming guests, imbibing, snacking, actual performance, post-show chatting and questions etc.)
A house concert is a super casual and intimate venue. Unlike in a bar or a club, I will be singing my songs in a living room surrounded by listeners….there is no stage ….there are no special lights, there will be no amplification…and especially no distracting tv screens blaring/binking along with the songs…
