HENRY LEES/LAWRIE INGLES DUO

A convergence of creativity. A confluence of artistic flow.
A mingling of multi-talents.

When two seasoned singer/songwriters like Henry Lees and Lawrie Ingles combine efforts, the results are bound to be as tasty and satisfying as your favourite old mixtape or new playlist. Toronto born and raised, Lawrie is one busy musician – singing, playing guitar, keys, bass or drums in any number of bands at a time, including Elton Rohn, David Storey, Tyler Ellis and the Eddy Line, or heating up the stage for accomplished Canadian favourites like Jay Semko and Blair Packham. When he’s not playing, Lawrie’s out supporting live music, taking in more live shows than anyone we know. He’s also a talented songwriter and his wordplay-laden lyrics offer a trusting glimpse into his emotional and intellectual depth.

Originally a west coaster, Henry has been heard belting it out on radio/TV jingles over the years as well as singing/songwriting for Calgary's popular original pop-rock band The Household Saints for more than a decade. Henry also performed coast to coast with actor, musician, philanthropist and Order of Canada honouree Tom Jackson on his Huron Carole benefit tours, getting to share the stage with some of our most respected talents like Colin James, Natalie McMaster, Melanie Doane and Charlie Major. Now residing in Toronto, Henry has written and performed with notable local artists such as Chris Antonik, The Prince Brothers and now, with Lawrie Ingles too.

They singularly shine on their own, but together, Lawrie Ingles and Henry Lees are uniquely and brilliantly entertaining.

DAVID STOREY

After nearly 25 years of achieving excellence by applying his wit, sensitivity and artistry in the service of others in the fields of directing and production for video & television, David Storey is coming home to his first love: music.

His debut full-length release, Comin’ Home, contains all the aspects of Storey’s musical gems that fans have loved the most since he resumed composing and performing: wry wit and penetrating insights about life’s changes, characters and passions humorously and powerfully delivered.

Although not strictly autobiographical in nature, the title of his debut full-length album Comin’ Home, being released this summer, is an apt summary of where he stands today. An early musical career saw him get airplay, rave reviews and award nominations for his Roots-Rock songs, which were compared to John Prine and Steve Earl.

After leaving music to raise a family for 20 years, he initially helmed award-winning videos and tv specials for the likes of Tom Cochrane and Stompin’ Tom and Anne Murray. He then moved into comedy productions, eventually developing, producing and directing the hit television show and movie “Corner Gas” before going back on stage with his own songs in 2011 after the series wrapped.

soozi schlanger with sharon tiessen

‘With a big, real voice Soozi Schlanger can conjure up Wanda Jackson or Lucinda Williams, and make you wanna cry or sing along. Most of all she writes straight-shooting, tell it like it is tales...She has a knack for dropping a line that'll knock you back a couple of steps... and wraps up her stories nice and neat...you feel like you've gotten to know the characters well...and your heart's been nudged.’

- Bob Mesereau (Top 100 Canadian Singles)

Metaphor is my mentor.
I love to craft and redraft, edit and then set the songs free.
But it is only when people listen that the creative cycle is completed.
It is only when people listen that my songs can truly use their wings…
